The tradition of hot cross buns is thought to go back as long ago as the 12th century! As with all good traditions, there are several theories about how the recipe came about, but what we do know is that they are delicious! A yeast roll that is slightly spiced, studded with currants or raisins, and scored on top in the shape of a cross, hot cross buns are thought to have been made by monks and served on Good Friday.
